Earlier this month, the Micron Foundation announced that it will donate $1 million over the next four years to create a research center at Utah State University. The university is in Logan, Utah, near the IM Flash Technology facility in Lehi, Utah, where Micron operates a NAND flash memory joint venture with Intel Corporation. The donation generated national media attention, with articles in outlets ranging from the Salt Lake City Tribune and Logan Herald Journal to EDN and EETimes. Students involved with the center will take a range of courses, such as inter-chip communications and digital image processing. In one article, Micron's Memory VP Brian Shirley said, "Let’s celebrate not just the opening of a new dynamic research center...but also the partnership between industry and academia that helps make this possible."
