Intel and Micron this week announced mass production of the most advanced NAND process available on the market, delivering a 34nm, 32 gigabit MLC NAND flash memory device. The companies are ahead of schedule with 34nm NAND production, expecting their Lehi facility to have transitioned more than 50 percent of its capacity to 34nm by year’s end. Several media outlets have written on the news writing that the 34nm process puts the companies in a more competitive position, challenging others in the industry.
